ARTPOP! stands for ”To Introduce Children To Our Culture.” Parents may volunteer to lead a monthly 30-minute ARTPOP! art lesson for their child’s class. The HSA ARTPOP! committee will provide you with a topic, instructions, a presentation, and supplies.

Bringing a Museum to School
The original program was started in 1960 with the goal of making fine and performing arts experiences available to students in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, and Fair Lawn. It has two main components: performing arts and other special art-related events through the school year, and an elementary school classroom enrichment program through which parent volunteers – also known as art docents – present famous works of art, including paintings, sculpture and historical artifacts, to children during the school day.

Parent volunteers from Central School are given a rotating collection of framed reproductions of masterworks of art and authentic artifacts. Each class will host a monthly parent-led lesson in which volunteer "docents" have the opportunity to go to your child’s class and lead a session about a particular artist and artwork. The ARTPOP! Committee will email you prior to the first of the month and include a short presentation, instructions, and a lesson. They will also provide instructions for how to pick-up HSA-provided, pre-selected materials for your lesson. They will also help facilitate scheduling with your classroom's teacher.
